Terms & Conditions
Last Updated: 04 August 2026
These Terms & Conditions apply to services provided by Upstream Detail (“we”, “us”, “our”) to our customers (“you”, “your”). By booking a service, paying a deposit or allowing us to begin work on your vehicle, you agree to these Terms & Conditions.
1. Bookings & Deposits
Bookings may require a deposit to secure the agreed date. Your booking is not considered confirmed until any requested deposit has been received.
The remaining balance is due upon completion of the work and before the vehicle is collected or returned, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Where specialist materials are ordered specifically for your vehicle, including Paint Protection Film (PPF), additional advance payment may be required.
2. Cancellations & Rescheduling
If you need to cancel or rearrange your booking, we ask that you provide as much notice as reasonably possible.
Where a deposit has been taken, cancellation or rescheduling terms will be communicated at the time of booking.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions affects any statutory cancellation rights you may have under UK consumer law.
3. Vehicle Condition
Customers must inform us before work begins of any known defects, damage or issues that could affect the service, including but not limited to:
• Previous paintwork or body repairs
• Resprayed panels
• Smart repairs
• Existing PPF or vinyl
• Loose or damaged trim
• Paint defects, lacquer failure or corrosion
• Aftermarket modifications
• Electrical or mechanical faults
We may photograph or video the vehicle before, during and after the service to document its condition and the work carried out.
4. Paint Correction & Machine Polishing
Paint correction and machine polishing are designed to improve the appearance of the vehicle’s paintwork. Complete removal of every scratch, stone chip, defect or imperfection cannot be guaranteed.
Some defects may be too deep to safely remove without compromising the vehicle’s clear coat or paint finish. In these circumstances, we will prioritise the integrity of the paintwork rather than attempting excessive correction.
Results will vary depending on the vehicle’s age, paint condition, previous repairs and available paint depth.
5. Paint Protection Film (PPF)
PPF is applied to help protect vehicle paintwork from stone chips, minor scratches and general road wear. It does not make a vehicle or its paintwork completely resistant to damage.
PPF installation may involve seams, joins, relief cuts and exposed edges depending on the shape and construction of the panel and the installation method used. While we aim to achieve the highest-quality finish possible, PPF should not be expected to be completely invisible under every lighting condition or viewing angle.
Minor moisture, haziness or small installation marks may be visible immediately following installation and can disappear during the curing process.
Customers must follow any aftercare instructions provided following installation.
Any manufacturer’s warranty applicable to the PPF material will be subject to the manufacturer’s own warranty terms and exclusions.
6. Ceramic Coatings
Ceramic coatings provide a protective layer designed to improve gloss, chemical resistance and ease of maintenance.
Ceramic coatings do not make a vehicle scratch-proof, stone-chip-proof or maintenance-free.
The durability of a coating depends on factors including mileage, storage, environmental exposure, washing methods and ongoing maintenance.
Incorrect washing, automatic car washes, aggressive chemicals or poor maintenance can reduce the performance and lifespan of a coating.
Customers must follow the aftercare guidance supplied by Upstream Detail.
7. New Car Protection
Although a vehicle may be new, we cannot guarantee that its paintwork will arrive defect-free. New vehicles can have imperfections resulting from transportation, storage, dealership preparation or previous washing.
Any additional work required beyond the package originally booked will be discussed with the customer before proceeding where reasonably practicable.
8. Valeting & Interior Cleaning
Customers should remove valuables and important personal belongings before their vehicle is handed over.
We cannot guarantee the complete removal of every stain, odour, pet hair or other contamination.
Additional charges may apply where the vehicle’s condition is significantly worse than reasonably expected when the booking was made. Where possible, this will be discussed before additional work is undertaken.
9. Personal Belongings
Upstream Detail cannot accept responsibility for personal belongings left inside the vehicle unless loss or damage results from our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill.
We strongly recommend removing valuables before leaving your vehicle with us.
10. Existing Damage & Previous Repairs
We are not responsible for pre-existing damage or defects that become apparent during cleaning, polishing, PPF installation or removal.
Previous poor-quality repairs, resprays, smart repairs or weakened paintwork may react differently during detailing or PPF installation/removal.
Where we become aware of a significant concern, we will aim to discuss this with you before continuing.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
11. Collection & Inspection
Customers should inspect their vehicle when collecting it and raise any concerns as soon as reasonably possible.
If you identify an issue after collection, please contact us promptly so that we have a reasonable opportunity to inspect the vehicle and, where appropriate, rectify the issue.
12. Pricing
Prices displayed on our website are based on the services and vehicle categories described and may be subject to confirmation.
Additional charges may apply where additional work is required because of vehicle size, condition, contamination or other circumstances that were not reasonably apparent when the original quotation was provided.
Any material change to an agreed price will be discussed with the customer before additional chargeable work is carried out.
13. Payment
Payment is due upon completion unless otherwise agreed.
We reserve the right to retain possession of the vehicle where legally permitted until outstanding amounts relating to the agreed work have been paid.
14. Photography & Social Media
We may photograph or film vehicles while carrying out our services for quality-control, portfolio and marketing purposes.
We will take reasonable steps not to display personal information such as addresses or belongings.
If you do not want images or videos of your vehicle used for marketing purposes, please tell us before work begins.
15. Delays
Completion times are estimates. Occasionally work may take longer because of vehicle condition, curing requirements, unexpected defects, material availability or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
We will aim to keep customers informed of significant delays.
16. Our Responsibility
We will provide our services with reasonable care and skill.
Nothing in these Terms & Conditions limits or excludes liability where doing so would be unlawful, including your statutory rights under applicable UK consumer law.
17. Complaints
If you are unhappy with any aspect of our service, please contact us as soon as possible so we have an opportunity to investigate and resolve the matter.
